My work editing real estate and interior design sections led to my entrance into public relations, where I worked at a well-respected Valley firm. I oversaw the Toll Brothers account in Phoenix, Tucson, Las Vegas, Reno and Palm Springs.

In addition to writing press releases and pitching stories, I also planned special events and created attractive narratives that both editors and TV producers would find attractive – particularly during an economic downturn.

My work on one such project, A Perfect Setting, is shown here. The event was held in both Phoenix and Las Vegas.

A Perfect Setting
An exhibition of dramatic tablescapes, A Perfect Setting provided a way to represent my client to the media and the public in a positive manner during a dramatic economic downturn. Model home dining rooms were decorated with china and flowers to fit a particular theme, and the public was invited to come and attend the event to get decorating ideas.

It was a hit: At one model home community, we learned that traffic increased exponentially. Through a media relations effort, I was able to secure coverage in local newspapers and television stations. Among them was a three-page spread in the Arizona Republic, which also featured an extensive online slideshow of the model homes. I received an Arizona Press Club award for the press kit I created as part of this event.
